The CEOs of regional companies Keep It Simple Computer Center (“KISCC”) and Spectrum SupportNet, Inc. (“SSNI”) jointly announced the merger of both companies, effective today. “This is a great opportunity to provide both of our client bases with expanded Novell, Microsoft, and Cisco technical support.” said Sean Canevaro, CEO of KISCC.
The merger brings SSNI’s in-depth Novell expertise and award-winning support to KISCC’s existing Novell, Microsoft, and Cisco solution groups. Sean Canevaro explained the merger in strategic terms. “Keep It Simple and Spectrum SupportNet have long been the top two Novell partners in Northern California. The merger provides Spectrum customers with additional Microsoft and Cisco support resources, while KISCC customers gain access to greatly expanded in-depth Novell expertise.”
“We’re in the middle of a local recession,” said Allan Hurst, CEO & Technical Principal of SSNI, “and clients are seeking technology partners who won’t escalate IT support costs. By merging, we’re able to reduce overhead and contain costs and charges. Together, our companies can provide technical depth of knowledge as well as breadth of product coverage.” The merger has been in various stages of discussion for over a year, according to Hurst, who is also the founder and seven-year past president of the Silicon Valley Novell Users International group.
Canevaro added that the resulting company will provide Novell customers in Northern California with “a true full-service’ technology partner, capable of handling all major software and hardware vendor issues with a single call, a single point of contact, and a single bill.”
Spectrum SupportNet’s 800 number, engineering team and part of the inside sales team have already relocated to KISCC’s operations center in Newark. Hurst will retain the title of Technical Principal, and will be one of three partners at privately held Keep It Simple Computer Center, where he will helm the recently formed Enterprise Systems Group, joining existing partners Sean Canevaro, CEO, who heads up the Novell Applications Group, and Craig Miller, Director of Engineering, who runs the Microsoft & Infrastructure Systems Group.
